Blueberries aren’t only chockfull of antioxidants, but they’re good for your brain  :-D , too!

Animal studies have found that blueberries may reverse age-related memory loss and other studies have found that blueberries contain many health-promoting antioxidants. Blueberries are associated with numerous health benefits including protection against urinary-tract infections, cancer, age-related health conditions, like heart disease and brain damage from strokes.

In a previous study on lab rats, old rats fed a diet rich in blueberries grew neurons, which means the blueberries may play a role in reversing age-related short-term memory loss. There were also improvements in coordination and balance.

Despite this yummy news, current per capita consumption is only 4 cups a year, this is only 1/6 of the strawberries we eat.

Blueberries are good news for those of us who want to stay healthy and promote brain function!
