Brownie Surprise

Brownie Surprise
Your family will never (never in a million years) guess there are black beans in these brownies!

Preheat oven to 350 degrees
1 stick (½ cup) butter
½ cup cocoa (without sugar)
2/3 cup honey or agave nectar
1 (15 ounce) can black beans
1 cup whole-wheat pastry flour
or oat flour
2 eggs
½ to 1 cup chopped walnuts
1 teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon baking soda

1. Drain and rinse beans.
2. Mash beans with a potato masher or puree in a blender.
3. Beat together butter, honey, and cocoa.
4. Add eggs and beat well.
5. Mix in bean puree.
6. Measure baking powder and soda into flour.
7. Stir in wet mixture into dry.
8. Add chopped nuts.
9. Pour into a 9 x 13 inch greased pan.
10. Bake for about 20 minutes.
11. Cool and cut into squares.
Keep leftover brownies in refrigerator.
