What about bottled water, I pack my husbands lunch and my daughters lunch with bottled water, is there any suggestions to get good fresh water without buying plastic, because our tap is terrible.
***
You can purchase BPA-free water bottles at most health food stores. Also, key in "BPA-free water bottles" for an internet search. You'll find dozens of BPA-free bottles for sale.

Many food and supplement manufacturers just take the word of the supplier that their ingredients are free of pesticides, PCB's, dioxins, etc. They NEVER test for these ingredients themselves. So to be sure I use Shaklee products. Guaranteed free of these chemical ingredients. How do I know? Because Shaklee tests ALL raw materials to guarantee they are free of the chemicals. And they have the tests to prove it.

Phthalates Is a big concern for me ---- how are we supposed to store our food? I know I shouldn't be microwaving anything with plastic, but storing food, packing the kids' lunches with plastic baggies... it's so hard to keep anything fresh without using plastic! :(

****
It depends how committed you are to avoiding plastic. A couple of years ago, I threw out all my kitchen plastic-ware. I clean glass bottles which held mayonnaise, pickles, etc. and reuse them. Walmart sells glass containers with screw-on lids for only a few dollars each. I find these very useful. As far as school lunches are concerned: Before plastic baggies moms used wax paper. I stopped using the microwave at the same time I switched to glass containers. If you were to make only one change, I'd suggest that you NEVER heat anything in the microwave in plastic.
Blessings, Nonna Joann :)
