Pray for Your Family

The promises of God are yes and amen! Pray daily for your family.
God is good. He hears our prayers and has given us the power to overcome.

Isaiah 55:11 promises, “So shall my word be that goes forth out of my mouth: it shall not return to me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”

We live in a fallen world, where terrible things can happen to families. It was not God’s design for us to experience sickness and death. Death and destruction came as a result of sin. Although, God provides comfort and healing for us. And when the outcome is not what we desire, God carries us through the hard times.

As I was getting ready to post this, my daughter, Jackie called from the hospital. Her family took a little walk after dinner. Nine-year-old Nicole (pictured in the white shirt below) was riding her scooter ahead of her parents. She took quite a tumble and came down hard on her head. So hard, that she was knocked unconscious.

Terrifying as that was to see their child lifeless in the street, when she became conscious, she couldn’t see. It’s very easy to become fearful when our children are in danger. It takes self-control to focus on God’s promises.

A mad dash to the emergency room confirmed that Nicole suffered a severe concision. More phone calls were made and our family began to pray for healing. I made the nearly hour drive to comfort the other children, while Jackie and her husband were in the hospital with Nicole. It can be difficult to praise God during life-threatening events. We thanked God that He designed self-healing bodies for us and that His promises are true. We prayed God’s Word together. Nicole is now recovering. This morning she looked much more alert and her eyesight has improved, although she has a nasty headache.

As our family has grown, so have our prayers.
Not only do we pray for our kids, but grandchildren as well.
Since last Thanksgiving, when this photo was taken, we have one more grandson to pray for.

He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you. Only with your eyes shall you look, and see the reward of the wicked. Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place, no evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; for He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone. You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, the young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot. “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation.”
