Shepard’s Pie with SauerkrautBy Nonna Joann • Jun 4th, 2012 • Category: Casseroles
I was looking for ways to use sauerkraut. This is a twist on Shepard’s Pie. Naturally fermented sauerkraut adds a spectrum of nutrients to this ol’ standby recipe.
You’ll want to purchase natural sauerkraut with no added vinegars available in most natural food stores. Naturally fermented sauerkraut contains beneficial live bacteria which aid digestion and helps with regularity. Natural sauerkraut contains anti-inflammatory properties as well.
Also, you’ll want to add sauerkraut to grilled cheese sandwiches on rye bread. Add sauerkraut to boiled potatoes for a change in flavor. Also, apples pear nicely with sauerkraut side dishes.
